Two layers of self-exclusion are available: the national register (BetStop) and operator-level self-exclusion inside your account.
BetStop: the National Self-Exclusion Register
BetStop is operated under Part 7B of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (Cth), together with the Interactive Gambling (National Self-Exclusion Register) Register Rules 2022. Register at betstop.gov.au. Registration applies across every Australian-licensed online and phone wagering operator.
Operator-level self-exclusion
Operator-level self-exclusion is activated from inside the account, under "Account features". Choose a self-exclusion period from 3 days, 7 days, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. Self-exclusion takes effect immediately upon confirmation.
Operational detail
- Minimum period 7 days; maximum period 5 years.
- Self-exclusion takes effect immediately upon confirmation.
- A 24-hour cooling-off period applies to any revocation request.
- Any account balance is returned to source following identity and payment checks.
- Pending bets are settled if the relevant event has occurred; otherwise they are voided and stakes returned.
- Marketing is stopped automatically for the duration of the exclusion.
- Reactivation requires active opt-in and identity re-verification; it does not happen automatically at the end of the period.
